To celebrate his 95th birthday, Clint Eastwood has shown that he has no plans to slow down and has confirmed he will direct a new movie that’s already in pre-production.
Eastwood confirmed to Austrian outlet Kurier that he has not finished in the director’s chair. He stressed that his good health means no one should worry about his demise “for a long time yet”.

He added, “There’s no reason why a man can’t get better with age,” highlighting his large reserves of energy. “Sure, there are directors who lose their touch at a certain age, but I’m not one of them.”
His last offering, 2024’s Juror #2, saw Nicholas Hoult as a juror in a murder trial who faces a moral reckoning that could determine whether the defendant is convicted. Many believed it to be Eastwood’s final piece.

Kurier revealed that his new project is already in the pre-production phase. No further details on the plot or the timeline have been revealed.
“We live in an era of remakes and franchises. I’ve shot sequels three times, but I haven’t been interested in that for a long while. My philosophy is: do something new or stay at home,” added Eastwood. His 95th birthday is on May 31st.

Since 1971, Eastwood has directed, starred in, or produced (and sometimes all three) 47 films for Warner Bros, which have in total raked in an estimated $9 billion at the box office. He has two ‘Best Picture’ Oscars under his belt.

Eastwood attempted to explain this success, both on the directorial and acting side of his career. He said, “As an actor, I was still under contract with a studio, was in the old system, and thus forced to learn something new every year. And that’s why I’ll work as long as I can still learn something, or until I’m truly senile.”
